The results of this experimental study showed that the incorporation of fly ash in the in RAC was beneficial to the overall strength of the composite, but only as a complement to Portland cement. The results also showed that the addition of HDPE fibers did not persuasively improve the compressive and tensile strength of the RAC. However, it significantly improved the overall toughness of the material. Finally, another study was conducted by Auchey and Dutta (1996) in which they analyzed the effect of HDPE on concrete under severe freeze thaw conditions.
