VII MOLD TRYOUT As with most new molds, a mold tryout was performed to check the mold performance. Before using the mold for the first time, it was treated with a suitable mold release agent to assure the melted plastic, in this case high density polyethylene (HDPE), will not adhere to the mold surface. There are varieties of products made for this specific purpose. One of the first issues when testing a new mold is to determine how much material to use.
