the Technology Interface/Spring 2008 Klein Once turned to the desired shape of the model, the part was sanded very smooth using progressively finer abrasive paper as shown in Figures 7 & 8. A wood finish was applied to seal the wood and improve the surface finish. (Figure 9) It should be noted the surface finish will be replicated exactly in the tooling plaster so the model finish was critical to create a quality casting.
